The restoration of the Tenney Gate House to its former splendor was accomplished in November of 1998 when the vacant dwelling was restored back to the late-19th century era. It was during the summers of the 1880's that the Charles H. Tenney family resided here during the nearby construction of their new magnificant estate, Greycourt. The c. 1830's Gate House now contains a gallery on the history of Methuen, a Community Gallery for changing exhibits, and (proposed) state park visitor's center. The exhibits opened in 1999.
